Provincial Nominee Program
(PNP)

The federal government has provided the authority to the provinces to define their own criteria for absorbing immigrants in the professional areas that they need more workers in.

As a result, the province has the authority to establish its own criteria for nomination and selection of immigrants and federal government is responsible for the final screening which includes security , admissibility and medical screening prior to granting permanent residency status.

In addition to meeting the selection criteria of the province, applicants should have the intention to stay and live in that province. If the officer is not convinced that the applicant is planning to live in that province, the application may be refused. And finally, applicants must meet the employment requirements of the NOC that they are applying for.
